We have become addicted to the convenience of single-use or disposable plastic — with severe environmental consequences for our future generations.

Globally, one million plastic drinking bottles are purchased every minute. In total, half of all plastic produced is designed to be used only once — and then thrown away.

Plastic and single-packaging waste is now so ubiquitous in the natural environment and our cities, we have become numb to the problem.

Today we produce about 300 million tonnes of plastic every year. That is equivalent to the weight of the entire human population. Researchers estimate that more than 8.3 billion tonnes of plastic have been produced since the early 1950s. About 60% of that plastic has ended up in either a landfill or the natural environment.

Our communities are overflowing in single-use plastic pollution—and it’s killing our planet.

Reusables was founded by a team that wants to help eliminate single-use plastics from our daily routines. Started in 2020, at the height of the COVID pandemic.

We decided to break down the barriers between private, public and academic institutions and design a robust solution that is reshaping the way we consume.
